The Sons of Speed stormed onto New Smyrna Speedway last weekend for a thrilling day of vintage boardtrack races. There’s nothing quite like 100-year-old motorcycles with no clutches, no brakes and no transmissions ripping around the high-banked turns of the speedway at full throttle.
Teams have been doing their homework since the last round of Sons of Speed races held at New Smyrna during the spring because the bikes were much faster this go-round with top speeds hovering around 90 mph. American Iron Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief was once again in the heat of the action racing his 1915 Harley-Davidson with engine work by Matt Walksler. Buzz said the Biketoberfest edition of Sons of Speed featured “crazy fast bikes and fearless riders” and included the first photo finish ever between Walksler and eBay Jake in the Semi-Final.
